Ven pongal

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw rice
  • 4tbsp moong dal
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4 tbsp broken cashewnuts
  • 3-4 tbsp ghee
  • 3½ cup water
  • salt as per taste

Directions

  1. wash rice and dal. cook them together with ½ tsp  salt  in 2cups of water for 10 minutes
  2. Add ½ tsp  salt, curry leaves and ginger with 1 ½ cup of water  and microwave for 5 minutes .
  3. Microwave cashew nuts, pepper  and cumin seeds  for 2½ minutes
  4. Pour this over  rice dal mixture and mix well .
  5. Serve  steaming hot with ghee on top.
